Despite the pieced together illusion of an in-progress virtual human future, tech media still bought in, effectively picking NEON as the fan-favorite of the event. At CES 2020, Samsung’s NEON leveraged significant, digital smoke and mirrors to pitch a virtual human assistant future. Samsung, too, has a history of over-selling virtual humans. All considered, it should not surprise you to see a subsidiary studio of Samsung experimenting with virtual personas, as it’s in Samsung’s DNA. Taking Galaxy even further, Samsung worked with The Diigitals’ Shudu Gram in a beautifully architected campaign to associate their technology with the innovation of virtual influencers. In 2019, Samsung partnered with Brud’s Lil Miquela for a multi-month #TeamGalaxy campaign, placing their latest Galaxy phone in the coveted mirror-selfie spot of the Miquela storyline. While Sam may not be a confirmed creation of Samsung (yet!), Samsung has a long history of innovating in the virtual influencer space. Virtual assistants, such as Siri, and virtual influencers, such as Miquela or FN Meka, continue to grow in popularity as the need for more captivating and humanized digital experiences grows. Now, people are even speculating whether or not Sam could replace Samsung’s current AI assistant, the faceless and forgettable Bixby. Samsung Sam’s viral success illustrates people’s desire for more virtual humans, even fully branded ones. Whereas the actress who plays Flo will eventually grow out of her character and Progressive will be forced to retire her human image, Sam will never age or die and has the potential to be a brand spokesperson for Samsung indefinitely. With her piercing blue eyes and bob haircut, Samsung Sam looks as if Pixar recreated Flo from Progressive as a virtual assistant.

There is also an option to activate your evaluation version with a shared License key, however, when that license key has been used many times, it becomes invalid and deactivated on the Sublime Text servers. You can, however, use the evaluation version for a period of time, but you will be required to purchase a license key if you want to enjoy all the cool features. In fact, it costs $80 for the full version of the code editor. With all the wonderful features available, it is no surprise that the Sublime Text Code Editor does not come free. Some developers feel comfortable coding in dark themes, for this reason, fans of Brackets editor can get the same theme as the Monokai Soda theme in Sublime Text as well. If you are familiar with the Notepad++ theme, there is a similar theme available for you to download for use in Sublime Text 3. Sublime Text also supports many additional software packages that the developer can download to make their coding lives easier. It has everything you need, which includes syntax highlighting, auto-completion, spell checker, multiple selections, split editing support, code folding, all in one editor. Many people choose Sublime Text as their favorite text editor because it is very user friendly. Sublime Text 3 is by far the best Code Editor I have used simply because it is fast and easy to use and comes with lots of features. Some code editors like the Sublime Text 3 are very fast even with thousands of lines of code, others are sluggish when you have that number of lines of code. A lot of choices exist when it comes to choosing the right Code Editor and it depends on what kind of feature you require from your Code Editor. Obviously there are many more but these are the ones I have personally used before. Some popular ones include Sublime Text, Visual Studio Code, Notepad++, and Brackets.
But, they do need to put in the work, instead of simply capitalizing off of mine. I also don’t mind if people draw inspiration from me and create their own video, story, book, or some combination thereof based upon something they saw in my work. Additionally, I’m no stranger to the fact that recipes are not copyrightable, and therefore, literally anyone can take my “Kimchi Mac ‘N Cheese” or my “Korean Vegan Red Sauce” and claim they came up with them on their own. It was an Instant Pot book (which looked very similar to my friend Nisha’s book) that happened to have the words “Vegan Korean” on it. Here’s the thing, though: that first book? It wasn’t an exact replica of mine. It seemed more than a coincidence, then, that all of a sudden, another “Vegan Korean Cookbook” appeared just a few days before mine was set to launch.īut of course, that wasn’t the end of it. Every couple days, I’d go back and discover another “Korean Vegan Cookbook” that purported to contain lots of plant-based Korean recipes. My brand, The Korean Vegan, was splashed across the LA Times, featured on NBC News, and was going viral on all social media platforms. My TikTok account had nearly 2 million followers, my Instagram had several hundred thousand, and my YouTube channel–which had been practically dormant since 2016–suddenly started getting millions and millions of views. It wasn’t lost on me that my little “hobby” had experienced GINORMOUS growth in the year leading up to my book launch. And all throughout that time, I’d searched high and low, turned every stone, even went to freaking Korea to look for other Korean vegan recipe creators and found not even a handful of them. I created The Korean Vegan all the way back in 2016 to solve a problem: the BLACK HOLE that existed when you searched for “Korean vegan recipes.” Since then, I’d done my best to fill that hole by posting veganized versions of my favorite foods growing up on YouTube, Instagram, and my blog, but the book– my book–was going to be the culmination of nearly 5 years of research, recipe testing, photography, and storytelling. I was angry, flabbergasted, confused, and a little nauseous. You cannot imagine the trash can of feelings that roiled through me as I clicked on the icon and flipped through the “sample” Amazon provided. But that day, instead of seeing my own book, I saw “Instant Pot Vegan Korean Cookbook,” which, in my humble opinion, looked like a term paper put together by a half-baked college freshman with an inkjet printer. We were still in the thick of the pandemic, and instead of walking over to my local bookstore every few days and geeking out over the fact that they were going to carry my book, I would hop onto Amazon and look up “The Korean Vegan Cookbook,” which was available for pre-order, and indulge in the prickling thrill of the forthcoming publication date. The first time it happened was in the fall of 2021, just a few days before my own book was scheduled to go live. In fact, since 2021, when my book came out, I’ve seen dozens of books called “Korean Vegan Cookbook” or some variation thereof that were obvious attempts to capitalize on the popularity of my brand or, worse yet, literally trick people into buying the wrong book. Pot au feu – More thick rib/brisket for braising.Believe it or not, I’d already seen this blatant knockoff of my book. Paleron and Macreuse – Thick rib (or brisket). Tourist tee picked up on a school trip to Washington D.C. Have you ever had school uniform requirements? If yes, what was your experience like? Though with good grades, he can earn free-dress days on Fridays, and he thinks that’s wonderful too. So far, I like it, and I think Oscar mostly does too. This is our first school uniform experience. 3) Top layers - like sweaters or hoodies - can be anything at all. For Oscar, that means mostly button downs and polo shirts with long and short sleeves. 2) Tops need to be either navy or white and have a collar. In Oscar’s case, that means trousers, cords, cargo pants, and even a lined khaki “city jogger”. The uniform requirements are this: 1) Any khaki colored bottom (shorts, pants or skirt). But the uniform is actually pretty flexible and makes room for quite a few options. Oscar’s school actually has a required uniform, so some of what you’re seeing in these photos are weekend clothes. Oscar is in 6th grade, his first year at middle school, and Olive is in 9th grade, her first year at high school. And now, I’m sharing What to Wear to Middle School and High School. When someone feels insecure or embarrassed because their pants were $10 instead of $100 it takes away the idea of expression and comfort in clothing.Earlier, I shared What to Wear to Elementary School, featuring my 5th grader and 1st grader. Brands such as Aritzia name their clothes to appeal to teenagers when their prices are so far out of range for many of these teens.īuying off-brand clothes and other items should be a normal, accepted practice because clothing is a way for students to express themselves and feel comfortable. Names such as “perfect going out top” or “body shaping cross over leggings” are appealing to teenagers wanting to look and feel good in their clothes. Many name brands will target their advertising towards teenagers with the specific names of clothing items. Most people will not outrightly judge you for your choice of clothes but it has been a topic behind a person’s back or people pass comments like “I would NEVER buy clothes from that brand.” And when students that may not be able to afford these clothes and hear these comments it becomes an insecurity or it can embarrass them Because of that, I can afford some of these brands because they help me feel ‘normal’ when in reality it shouldn’t be a brand that decides someone’s social status. I work two jobs all weekend and make all my own money. But it’s difficult for some students in similar situations as me, to fit in because they can’t afford these brands or have to work many hours on the weekend and after school to afford these brands so they feel like they fit in. People can buy whatever brands they like and can spend as much money as their heart desires – if they have it. I have heard people referring to their peers as ‘cheap’ for buying these off-brand versions instead of the ‘real thing’. But among students the clothing is hardly seen as the same. Online shopping sites like Amazon have clothing “dupes,” which are identical clothing items but without the logo or brand name. Even if you try to avoid the brand names, chances are you end up wanting a single top or even headband just to fit in. Middle schoolers are now sporting the $150 Aviator Nation sweatpants and $70 Lululemon tank tops. I was lucky enough to avoid it in middle school until 8th grade. Having the little reflective Lululemon symbol on the leg of your shorts or on the back of your shirt gives you ‘instant status’ at school. It’s not really the quality or even the clothing everyone is longing for, it’s the brand name. There is always the option to buy the off-brand version or buy something similar. Overall, the Cateye has earned a reputation for being the most sought-after Silverado and we think it's well deserved. If you want the best of the best and are itching to get into the diesel scene, get ready to break out the wallet because we've seen these things listed for upwards of $25,000 which is pretty insane for a truck of this age. If you're looking for an HD gasser, expect to be around the $15,000 mark. You can usually find a decent Silverado 1500 for under $10,000. If you're looking to pick up one of these trucks, watch out for rust, especially if you're from a place that gets a lot of snow. The LBZ is known for its strength and reliability paired with pre-emissions engineering making it perfect for a workhorse or a powerhouse. If you're into heavy-duty trucks, the Cateye offers the 6.0L gas V8 or the famed LBZ diesel engine that is by far the most sought-after version of the Silverado. When it comes to engines, this generation of Silverado was produced before the displacement on-demand technology was introduced into GM's V8 engines, making these motors reliable and cheap to work on especially since they threw the 5.3L in a ton of other platforms. I mean, this truck is at least 13 years old and still looks good when parked to brand new trucks. That can't be said for a lot of different trucks on the market. It will fit the style of an offroad build, show build, or even a lowered street build. This style is so sought after because, quite frankly, it can look good no matter what mods you throw on it. To many enthusiasts, this is the most aggressive generation of the Silverado because of its angry-looking front end. When we talk about the Cateye generation of the Chevy Silverado, we're talking about the year range of 2003 - 2006 and the 2007 Classic. We've got a lot of questions asking why this generation of Silverado is so popular so today we decided to answer your questions and dive into what makes the Chevy Cateye so great. If you're even relatively familiar with the truck scene, then you've definitely come across a Cateye Silverado at some point because they're so popular. She can appreciate the impact it has on female poker players, but what she will really appreciate is her belt. In the meantime though, it’s time to enjoy her moment. She said lately she has been playing on more. Zajmovic is a cash-game pro who currently lives in Montreal and normally plays live cash. This was a final table with numerous chip lead changes, a long day of action, and a heads-up battle with Jean-Francois Bouchard where she began at a chip disadvantage. She’s an aggressive player, but she said anyone at the final table could have won this tournament. Zajmovic was flattered by the comparison, but wasn’t sure if it’s necessarily accurate. “She is a combo of Phil Ivey and Vanessa Selbst,” Sexton said. The legendary WPT co-commentator and fellow WPT Champions Club member to Zajmovic also made a comparison to the new winner’s play that pretty much every poker player would kill to get. We’re going to be seeing a lot more of her in the future. “I have the greatest respect for her,” Sexton said. Sexton praised Zajmovic’s play in that event, pointing out her aggressive style and how much she intimidated the rest of the field. There, with the belt within reach, Zajmovic finished in fifth place after holding a chip lead during much of the late stages of the tournament. Last November, she made the final table of the Season XV WPT Montreal Main Event won by Mike Sexton. This is not the first time Zajmovic has given the poker world a sweat about an open-event female WPT winner. Now it has evolved so much and it is nice to see I had support from older women, younger women.” It was hard to be good and be supportive of each other. When I started playing poker, there was so much competition between girls. “The funniest and nicest part of this experience was all the women who came and were so supportive of me. “Honestly, I am really happy that I proved women can do it,” Zajmovic said of winning an open WPT Main Tour event. As play neared the final table, she could not help but notice how many women were paying attention to her run in this tournament. That is not to say she didn’t realize the historic impact of what she accomplished this evening. When she described her mindset at the final table, it was singularly focused on one goal. As part of her prize, she gets a seat into the invite-only US $15,000 buy-in Tournament of Champions at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood this April.Įver since Zajmovic saw two of her friends win WPT events at Playground Poker Club in Montreal and earn the belt, akin to the kind awarded in boxing and wrestling, it has been on Zajmovic’s mind. Zajmovic collected CAD $261,000 for defeating a field of 380 entries in the $3,500 buy-in event. Zajmovic won the WPT Playground event, becoming the first female WPT champion of an open buy-in event. Today, Ema Zajmovic gave the poker world some answers. Although Van Nguyen became the first female champion when she won the WPT Celebrity Invitational back in 2008, no woman had been able to accomplish what has already been done on the World Series of Poker, the European Poker Tour, and elsewhere.
